Welcome To The Family!
I had mentioned before that I had started to spend less on fast fashion items and spend more on classic and long lasting items. These Chanel slingbacks are the perfect example of my new shopping habits.
I first saw the Chanel slingbacks on Aimee Song (Song of Style) sometime last fall (here and here). When I saw them on her, I immediatel fell in love. I especially love how she paired the Chanel slingbacks in the first post, with boyfriend jeans. It just screamed so effortless to me. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve started to become drawn to items of comfort; the assortment of heels in my closet has dwindled to just one and flats and boots have taken up most of the space.
A little background history: these two-tone Chanel slingbacks were originally designed by Gabrielle Chanel in 1957 and during March 2015 runway shows, it was the only shoe option shown.
(LOVE how Leandra Medine paired hers with that star dress. So on trend.)
These particular Chanel slingbacks are goatskin and retail for $800 (with NYC tax, $871). They come in a few different colors, I believe I’ve seen them in all black and in black/dark grey. They’ve already had a price increase; I believe about 2 months ago they were $700. The Chanel slingbacks are constantly sold out, especially in this color combination.
Quick story on how I got them. . .I stopped into the Chanel boutique in Soho sometime Fall 2015 and asked if they had any pairs of the Chanel slingbacks. Of course, the answer was no, but the sales associate (Michelle) told me to put my name down and what sizes I could fit in. Filled out the form and COMPLETELY forgot about it. Cut to the first week of August 2016 and I get a random text messages, unknown number, telling me that a pair in a size 38 had come in! It took me literally 5 minutes to decide if I wanted them or not (I did!) and I texted back my confirmation.
When I got to the store, she told me that she actually had a 37.5 that the previous customer decided not to purchase. I’m a true 37.5 (and only really do 38 for the European shoes) and when I sat down to try them on. . .they fit perfectly.
Guys, these Chanel slingbacks are worth it. They are SO WORTH IT. And if you can, try to find them now before there’s another price increase. I’m seeing them sold on second hand online shops for up to $1100! The price will just keep going up.
And not only is it effortlessly classy, it also has the number one thing I look for when I go shoe shopping. . .COMFORT. They are the most comfortable shoes ever. The slight block heel elongates the leg but keeps the comfort level at a 10. You step your feet in them and it’s like butter.
They’re perfect for street style shots. I love them best when paired with boyfriend jeans and a simple white tee. Maybe put on a funky blazer on top, swipe on a red lip and you’re good to go. They scream class to me. They are, by far, the best shoes I’ve every purchased.
