Ole Henriksen Skincare Review
As you know, and as I’ve reiterated multiple times in multiple posts, I’m a huge fan of skincare. Maybe that’s why Influencer keeps sending me skincare items, but hey, I’m not complaining.
I’ve heard of Ole Henriksen skincare products before but hadn’t actually purchased them. I’ve definitely gotten a few Ole Henriksen skincare samples from Sephora here or there, but never any full size items.
So let’s head into the review, shall we?
Wow, talk about not doing your research. I just looked up the price of this Ole Henriksen skincare product and it retails for $72 at Sephora! It has a decent amount of reviews (people, READ the reviews!) and they seem to be overwhelmingly positive. Most of what I’ve read about this Ole Henriksen skincare serum is that it really helps with brightening. It has a ton of Vitamin C in it, and one of Vitamin C’s properties is to brighten, so . . . apparently. . .it’s supposed to do that.
What was my experience with it?
I would say that it worked as it was supposed to work. It didn’t make my skin worse but I also didn’t see much of a difference. The only thing I could maybe say about it is that on the days when it was really hot (and I tan SO EASILY, it’s that Filipino blood), I noticed that when I slathered my face with it, I tended to not get as dark as I usually did. Additionally, my skin looked a tad bit brighter, but again, not enough for me to think that it came from this alone, and not from any other products I might have been using.
It took me a very long time to use the Ole Henriksen skincare mask, mostly because I wasn’t sure how to use it and didn’t have much time to try it. However, I finally sat down on a lazy Sunday morning and tried it. I have to say, out of the three Ole Henriksen skincare items that were sent to me, this was definitely my fave. I’m a self proclaimed mask whore, I will try and all face masks. I love face masks.
This mask is a 3 step brightening system. The first step is the Polishing Mask, which you apply to your face and leave on for 5-10 minutes. This mask smells really good, very citrusy. It also has the consistency of a thick oatmeal which felt a little strange on my face. After the ten minutes are up, you wash it off your face carefully, while massaging in a circular motion.
The second step is the Brightening, which uses a Vitamin C concentrate. This one is clear and smooth and you leave it on for about 3 minutes. This one was strange for me because you don’t wash it off. You just leave it on. Which brings us to. .
The third step, the Glow Cleanser. You apply this one directly over the Vitamin C concentrate and leave it on for 10-15 minutes. The instructions said that you would feel a tingling sensation but I didn’t really feel that with this one. After the 15 minutes, you remove it with the provided complexion sponges (which are AWESOME) but you remove it very gently, wiping it off instead of washing.
See? It’s a long process. However, afterwards my skin felt SO GOOD. It was super bright, felt so soft and I just glowed. I was sad I only got one mask out of it, I would love to do this 1-2 times a week.
This is an Ole Henriksen skincare oil free moisturizer that is supposed to even your skin tone. Honestly, I think the main reason I didn’t like this one is because I am so used to appkying thicker moisturizers. With this one, every time I put it on my face, my face just felt thirsty. . .like it needed more moisture. It felt so thin on my skin.
I think this would be good for people who don’t like their face to be oily after moisturizing. I strangely like my skin to be a little sheen-y after I moisturize. I like the shiny-ness (and I just blot afterwards). I like that feeling of my skin drenched in serum and product. So this product really wasn’t for me.
Phew, my skin care rambling has finished. I’ve linked the products above if you’d like to shop them. As I said above, my favorite was the face mask product and that’s one that I definitely buy again.
Has anyone else tried these Ole Henriksen skincare products? What did you think of them?
*These products were sent to me for my review. As always, my opinions are truly my own.
