New York Woman

NEW YORK WOMANnew york womanI was born and raised in New Jersey, but New York was always my destination. I remember when I was a kid and anytime people would visit, my parents and I would always drive them into New York and show them all the tourist things, ending with a feisty dinner in Chinatown. When I was going to college in New Jersey, NYC was a quick 30 minute train ride away. During the summers on my days off, I would take the train into NYC, armed with a fully charged iPod, and walk from 34th street to Central Park, letting my music create a soundtrack to the city.

So yeah, NYC has my heart and my soul and I’m utterly in love with it. Anytime I see a tee or hoodie or mug or anything touting NYC, I’m that cheesy soul that has to have it. There have been other cities that I’ve entertained the idea of living in (Barcelona, Amsterdam, coastal California) but nothing beats the gritty, beautiful, pulsing New York.

I love the mismatched, asymmetrical hem on this denim skirt, as well as the distressed fringe and floral embroidery.

What cities you guys are from (or if you’re from NYC, some of your favorite places) and why do you love your city?

  • Robin Rue

I love NYC, too. I grew up outside of Boston, which I love, too, but there is something really magical about Manhattan!!

  • I’m so in love with your boots. I was so sad when I scrolled down to see that it is no longer available at Topshop. Looks like I’ll have to find another brand that makes a similar pair 🙂

  • Shasha

I love this look! Interestingly, I was born in Queens, but my family moved to Virginia when I was five years old. I never claim New York as home, although technically it is! I’d love to rock that shirt, its so fierce! I also love how you paired it with the booties, and the patchwork on that skirt is awesome.

  • Sandra Negron

I’m a born and bred new yorker and there’s nothing like this city! Oh and your skirt is everything!

  • There is nothing like the big apple. I totally understand your attraction to the city. It’s definitely a dream for fashionistas and bloggers like us.

  • Nikki

I grew up in the Poconos, so NYC was always a quick trip away. I like to go on weekends, when half of NYC and NJ are in MY town, lol! Seems like a fair trade! Tourist for tourist! I love that skirt, it’s gorgeous!

  • Chandler Hennelly

I am in love with this whole look. I hope to end up in NYC after I am done with college. I visited last over the winter and re-fell in love. It has my heart even though I currently am all the way on the west coast. You could say we are in a long distance relationship.

  • Cassie Liz

Love the style here! That skirt is adorable too with the flowers! I dream of new york… my favourite place in the whole wide world!

  • Marcie

That’s such an interesting skirt! I need to find something like this to embrace the embroidery trend!

  • Janel Berchielli

I’ve only been to New York City a couple times in my life and it was so hot and humid I don’t think I had much fun. I’m a California girl and we don’t have humid summers here but we still get high hot temperatures .

  • I have actually never been to New York. I have always wanted to plan a visit, but never had the time to do it. Maybe the family and I will take a trip soon and see it for the first time.

  • Jennifer Morales

I live in New Jersey and also love visiting NYC. Im only five minutes before crossing the tunnel and wish I could visit more often. I love to walk arpund and get inspired by so many styles and outfits! By the way I’m in love with your skirt!
